Can I share it with my family?
Yes. One purchase covers everyone in your family group using Apple’s Family Sharing, with up to five other people. Each person uses their own Apple Account, and everyone's writing stays their own.
Is my writing locked into the app?
No. Your projects are saved as plain markdown, so other apps can open them too. You can also export Word, PDF, ePub and markdown files during the trial or at any time after buying.
Does it use AI to write for me?
No. Content Analysis reads what you've written and gives you a synopsis and a list of the people, places and themes in it. It runs on your Mac using its built-in Apple Intelligence, never writes or rewrites your prose, and can be turned off.
What if I change my mind after buying?
Try it first. You can look around the sample novel for free before your trial starts, and the 14-day trial includes every feature. If you do change your mind after buying, refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
I'm halfway through a draft in another app. Can I bring it in?
Yes. Drag in Word documents, markdown or plain text files, and each one becomes a document in your project, ready for you to carry on. Word documents come in as plain text, so any italics will need putting back by hand.
Is there an iPad version?
Not at the moment and there is not one in active development.
Will it come to Windows or the web?
Not planned. Waxcap is a Mac app, but your projects are plain markdown, so if you do want to move to a different system, the files will open pretty much anywhere.
How the trial works
Download Waxcap for free and look around the sample novel for as long as you like before you start. The 14-day free trial begins when you create your own project, and includes every feature. You won't be charged when it ends.
- Before the trial. The sample novel, Settings and Help are free to use.
- During the trial. Everything works, including export.
- When the trial ends. You can't open or edit your projects, or the sample novel, until you buy. Nothing is deleted, and you can still save any project as plain text.
- To keep writing. One purchase unlocks the app on all your Macs, with Family Sharing. You can buy at any time.
