Waxcap is there to help you finish your novel. You set a daily word target, Waxcap counts as you write, and rest days keep your streak going on the days you can't write. We've tried to keep the app focused on that one job.
Plain markdown, on your own Mac
Your projects are saved as plain markdown files on your Mac. Markdown is an open format, so you can open your writing on any computer, in any text editor, with or without Waxcap.

Waxcap is free to download from the Mac App Store, with a 14-day trial. After that, a single in-app purchase unlocks it on all your Macs, with Family Sharing included and no subscription. Pricing →
Writing a book can take months or years, and we don't think you should have to keep paying for the app for all that time.
Apple Intelligence
Content Analysis uses the Apple Intelligence built into your Mac to read a chapter and give you a short synopsis, along with a list of the characters, places, objects, themes and timeframes it mentions. It doesn't touch your writing, it runs on your Mac, and you can turn it off.
