This website is published by Terrible Mushroom Ltd. By using it, you agree to these terms.

  • We try to keep the site accurate and up to date, but we can't promise it's free of errors.
  • You're welcome to link to any page. Please ask us before copying the site's content or showing it inside another website.
  • The text and design of this site belong to Terrible Mushroom Ltd. You can use the Waxcap name, icon and screenshots when writing about Waxcap, but not as branding of your own.
  • We're not responsible for any loss caused by using this website, except where the law doesn't allow us to exclude that, including your rights as a consumer.
  • These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute can be heard by the courts of England and Wales.

Digital Services Act

This website publishes only our own content. It doesn't host content from anyone else, so it isn't an online platform or hosting service under the EU Digital Services Act (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065). Notices about anything on this site can be sent to support@terriblemushroom.com.

Waxcap terms

Waxcap is free to download from the Mac App Store and free to try for 14 days. A one-off in-app purchase then unlocks the full app. Your use of Waxcap is covered by Apple's standard licence agreement for App Store apps, together with these terms.

  • Your writing is yours. You own everything you write in Waxcap, and you can publish, sell or share it however you like.
  • Who can use it. You can use Waxcap on Macs signed in to your Apple Account. If you share purchases through Family Sharing, the people in your family group can use the unlock too.
  • What you can't do. You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, redistribute or resell the app itself.
  • Updates. Updates to the version you've bought are included. A future major version may be sold separately.
  • Your rights if something goes wrong. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer where you live. In the UK, for example, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 means that if Waxcap doesn't work as described, you're entitled to a repair or replacement, or a price reduction that can be up to a full refund.
  • Governing law. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. That doesn't take away any consumer protection you have under the law where you live.

Refunds and the App Store

Apple handles all payments for Waxcap, so refunds are requested through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something's wrong with Waxcap, please email us at support@terriblemushroom.com as well, and we'll do what we can to put it right.

Where Apple's terms and these terms differ, Apple's terms apply to payment, downloads and refunds, and these terms apply to everything specific to Waxcap.

Trademarks

Waxcap is a trademark of Terrible Mushroom Ltd. Apple, the Apple logo, Apple Books, Apple Intelligence, App Store, Family Sharing, iCloud, Liquid Glass, Mac, macOS and Pages are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries and regions. Microsoft and Microsoft Word are trademarks of the Microsoft group of companies. Kindle is a trademark of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. Kobo is a trademark of Rakuten Kobo Inc. All other trademarks belong to their respective owners. We mention these products on this website and in Waxcap only to describe compatibility, and doing so doesn't mean their owners endorse us.

Open source

Waxcap is built with the following open-source libraries. The full text of each licence is in the app: choose Waxcap ▸ About Waxcap and look under Acknowledgements.

The bundled Pride and Prejudice sample is Jane Austen's novel, which is in the public domain. The Submit and Manuscript-style export presets follow standard manuscript submission formatting. The fonts Waxcap uses for editing and export come with macOS and are licensed by Apple from their foundries.
