Content Analysis
14 May 2026
Content Analysis reads a document in your Waxcap™ manuscript and tells you what's in it: a synopsis, and the people, places, objects, themes and times it mentions. It runs on your Mac, using the Apple Intelligence built into it.
It's for coming back to your own book. Open a chapter you last touched six months ago and the panel reminds you who's in the room, where the scene is, and what the chapter was working on, so you don't have to read the whole thing cold before you can carry on.
What the panel shows
The panel opens beside the editor with ⌘⇧Y. At the top is the synopsis, in two styles: Short, a few sentences for a quick reminder, and Flowing, a paragraph or two for picking up after time away. You can rewrite either of them by hand.
Below the synopsis is the list of what the document mentions. Click a character and you can start a Reference Material note for them, or link the name to a note you already have. Open that note later and the panel lists every document the character appears in.
The same panel carries the Manuscript Compatibility check, which tells you what would change in a submission export. Exporting your book explains it.
What it leaves alone
It doesn't score your writing, suggest changes or write anything for you. It only tells you what's already there.
What it needs
Content Analysis needs an Apple silicon Mac with Apple Intelligence turned on in System Settings. On a Mac without it, the panel doesn't appear and everything else in Waxcap works as normal. If you'd rather not use it, you can switch it off in Settings ▸ Editor.
